Job Description: 

Overview

Seeking a dedicated instructor to provide fitness instruction in Yoga, Meditation, Nia, and other similar disciplines. An ideal candidate will have certification in these disciplines, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering wellness in a supportive environment. 

 

May also work at the Breithaupt Centre, Grand River Rec Complex, and Budd Park.

 

(Temporary Part Time for Approximately 12 months)

Responsibilities

  • Develops and conducts engaging programs for participants, ensuring they meet required standards.
  • Demonstrates and teaches Yoga, Meditation, and Nia techniques using established methods, providing helpful feedback to participants.
  • Explains and enforces safety rules for sports, recreation activities, and equipment use.
  • Gathers and organizes necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records, including class attendance and accident/incident reports, and distribute relevant forms and program information.
  • Ensures equipment is used safely, kept in good condition, and stored properly.
  • Responds to participants' immediate concerns and needs, providing excellent customer service.
  • Acts as a bridge between the facility and participants.
  • Provides first aid as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience providing group fitness.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have at least 3 months experience teaching Tai Chi.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid certification as a fitness instructor in Yoga, Meditation, or Nia from a recognized institution.
  • Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR or be willing to obtain prior to Start Date.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, along with strong customer service and behavior management abilities.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
