Overview
Working with the Cemeteries team, the summer students will assist with the maintenance and general care for City of Kitchener cemeteries.
(Temporary Full Time for Approximately 4 Months)
Responsibilities
- Maintains flower beds and hanging baskets; plants, weeds, and provides general care and maintenance of a mixed perennial, bi-annual and annual plant material.
- Waters and fertilizers plant material as required.
- Collects and removes debris/litter (site beautification).
- Operates grass cutting equipment (push mower), leaf blower, and gas-powered line trimmer.
- Clears woodchip walking paths; collects and removes debris.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Minimum equivalent to partial secondary school education.
Experience
- Minimum 1 month of related experience.
Additional Requirements
- Preference will be given to candidates with a valid MTO “G2” class driver’s license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Enrolled in secondary or post secondary school and returning to school in the next semester.
- Must be flexible to work varying shifts, & rotational duties, weekends.

- Ability to perform physical labour in a variety of outdoor conditions.
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow directions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to keep accurate written records.
