Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Special Interest Instructors to lead programs such as English as a Second Language (ESL) Conversation Circles, Sewing, Creative Writing, and Knitting/Crocheting.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and facilitation skills, experience teaching or leading group programs, and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for participants.
This position will begin with one to two programs (1-6 hours) per week during the fall session based on participant registration and program demand.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, organize and deliver engaging programs for participants, ensuring they meet the established program goals
- Demonstrate and teach activities using established methods, providing helpful feedback to support learning and skill development.
- Monitor participant engagement and respond appropriately to concerns or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, incident reports, and participant documentation.
- Distribute and collect program forms and provide participants with relevant program information.
- Gather, organize, and maintain program supplies and equipment.
- Ensure equipment is used safely, maintained in good condition, and stored appropriately after use.
- Respond to participants' immediate concerns and needs, providing excellent customer service.
- Act as a liaison between participants and the facility promoting a positive program experience
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Minimum high school diploma and current technical and practical training in a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of related experience.
- Experience providing instruction within a program setting.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
- Be able to work flexible hours including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the program.
- Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR Level “C” or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.
