Overview
We are currently seeking a Facilitator, Community Centre to provide the leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Kingsdale Community Centre and Centreville Chicopee Community Centre.
The Neighbourhood Programs and Services (NPS) Division has 14 Community Centres throughout the City of Kitchener. This exciting role will be the primary lead at one of the Community Centres, overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring excellent service to customers. They will also serve as a primary point of contact for engaging with a variety of community groups and stakeholders who operate out of the Kingsdale Community Centre and Centreville Chicopee Community Centre.

Responsibilities
Community Centre Leadership and Programs, Services and Neighbourhood development:
- Provide leadership and coordination to community centre staff, related to the day-to-day operations of the centre.
- Facilitate the planning, coordination and implementation of direct and indirect programs, partnership programs, services and special events to maximize the use of the centre, its property and other spaces in the surrounding neighbourhood.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives at the community centre and in the neighbourhoods served by the centre, engaging with internal staff, community stakeholders and developing partnerships when appropriate.
Community Centre Operations:
- Responsible and accountable for the effective day-to-day operations of the community centres they operate out of.
- Lead the community centre staff team's day-to-day operational work, ensuring a consistent level of quality customer service.
- Ensure a consistent level of care and maintenance of the facility is upheld, identifying with the appropriate corporate staff: facility maintenance needs, security needs, outdoor grounds maintenance needs, etc.
- Monitor and address customer issues and address patron behavior issues when required.
- Act as the primary emergency contact during business hours. Coordination of Staff and Team Development:
- Work closely with the Community Centre Supervisor to provide leadership to all staff at the centre using a collaborative approach.
- Monitor staff performance and report any issues to the Community Centre Supervisor for resolution.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
- 2-year diploma or 2 years in a specialized post-secondary program in Recreation and Leisure, Social Work, Social Development, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated and identified successes facilitating groups towards a common goal, in a leadership position.
- Proven collaborative leadership in the development and delivery of programs and services to the community, including groups such as neighbourhood associations and other neighbourhood-based groups, social agencies and other partner groups, youth, committees, volunteers and staff.
- Staff and volunteer co-ordination including recruitment, training, coaching, orientation, recognition, as well as board management and development.
- Program design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
Additional Requirements
- Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR C/AED or willing to obtain within 3 months.
- Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Access to reliable transportation for the full duration of employment to travel to various programs and service locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, conflict mediation skills and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to facilitate multiple groups/people towards a common goal.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to build, nurture and maintain relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Able to coordinate community centre staff and volunteer groups.
- Knowledge in working through and supporting a strategic process with community stakeholders that identifies/develops community priorities, sets a strategic direction, and develops a plan which considers the community, their assets and needs.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and the Internet.
- Be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the Centre and the community they serve.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
