Overview

Event Attendants serve as welcoming ambassadors for the City’s special events, creating a positive and memorable experience for all guests. In this highly public-facing role, staff greet attendees, answer questions, provide event information, and offer general support to ensure visitors feel informed and cared for throughout their experience.

While the primary focus is guest interaction and customer support, Event Attendants may also provide light assistance with basic set-up or tear-down tasks as needed. This can include placing tables, chairs, or tents to support the on-site event team. These tasks are occasional and secondary to the primary guest-facing function.

This position requires availability on weekends and selects statutory holidays to support the City’s annual event schedule.

Responsibilities

Customer Support & Guest Experience

  • Acts as a primary point of contact for event attendees, providing information, answering questions, and helping orient visitors.
  • Engages with the public in a friendly, professional, and helpful manner to ensure all guests have an enjoyable event experience.
  • Supports event-related activities and stations as assigned throughout the event.

 

Event Equipment Support (Set-Up as Needed)

  • Provides assistance with placing event equipment as required to support event flow and layout adjustments (such as tables, chairs, or tents). 
  • Helps maintain event spaces throughout the event to ensure it remains tidy and welcoming
  • Works collaboratively with Special Events staff when on-site adjustments are needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Education

  • Equivalent to partial secondary school education.

Experience

  • 1 month of related experience.

Additional Requirements

Hours of Work: Able to work various hours to accommodate event schedules, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to identify effective solutions.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position (e.g., lifting up to 50 lbs; prolonged standing and walking).
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
