We are seeking a dependable Activity Monitor to support the safe and successful delivery of recreational programs on weekdays in a variety of city owned community centres. The successful candidate will help monitor participants, provide excellent customer service, and assist with program operations and support. 

 

 Please note: Schedules are determined seasonally based on program participation and operational needs. This position will begin with one to three programs (1-6 hours) per week during the fall session based on participant registration and program demand. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Monitors class participants and lead activities; ensures safe practices.
  • Assembles supplies and equipment as required.
  • Completes records and reports including class attendance and accident/incident reports.
  • Ensures safe use, condition, and storage of equipment.
  • Distributes applicable forms and program information (e.g., general information, brochures).
  • Adheres to policies and procedures established for City of Kitchener facilities.
  • Reviews emergency procedures with participants and follow established procedures during emergencies.
  • Responds to patrons’ immediate concerns and/or needs and provides customer service.
  • Acts as a liaison between the facility and participants.
  • Completes records and reports including accident/incident reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Minimum partial high school completion and current technical and practical training in a specific discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 month of related experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
  • Be able to work flexible hours including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the program.
  • Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to help with set up and take down of equipment.
